1960's GMT Master Ticking wayy to fast
Hello all. I received my grandfathers Oyster Perpetual GMT Master with the pepsi colored dial for my 21'st birthday. The watch had been refurbished for me during november of 2008. It is now September of 2009 (if this is relevant) and my watch is gaining ten seconds every minute! I have let it "die" a few times now and every time i wind her back up she still it gains ten minutes every hour. I have looked on other forums but all i have seen was about a watch gaining +6, -4 seconds everyday. What should i do??

Welcome to TRF. Sounds like it may need a simple adjustment. Any competent watchmaker should be able to fix the problem. Are you in an area that has jewelers with competent technicians on staff?

It sounds like either your watch has become magnetized and the hairspring coils are sticking together....
Either that, or it has been bumped so that one of the coils has jumped atop another... either one of these could cause it to run fast like you describe.. As Rockrolex mentioned, any competent watchmaker can sort this out in short order........
