I think the crown is fake. There is nothing to indicate that there is any genuine SS crown that was plated.

One-piece screw-down crown
The screw-down crown is an extremely important part of the watch. If it is not constructed properly, the watch will not be water-resistant. And for any watch to go past 10m of water-resistance, the screw-down crown must screw in perfectly. A one-piece screw-down crown refers to the construction of the crown. The Rolex emblem is carved out from one solid piece of stainless steel, exactly like the real thing. It is a very expensive process, and that is why on cheaper fake watches, the emblem is just glued on.
