How will the ceramic sub affect the value of aluminum subs?
How will the resale value of current newer subs be affected by the new ceramic sub? Also, is it confirmed that the new bracelet on the ceramic SS sub will have the shiny middle piece like the GMT?
I want a SS sub with date, but I cannot decide whether to wait or not for the Ceramic as i am sure some of you can tell from my posts about the ceramic sub. Anyone that recently bought a SS sub, how did you decide to buy now instead of waiting? Another question I have is whether the bracelet will change. Thank you to all in advance for responses. |

It wont effect them much from current levels. They will not discount the new ones and the current ones can be had for around 30% off msrp today if you look.

no effect, now or later. Yes, my crystal ball works in both realms !
The GMT MASTER II either in Pre-C or C form still are comparably priced/discounted (whether SS or 2T) on both new and secondary markets; yes a Pre-C can still be found at ADs ! |

Would doubt if you will see any ceramic Subs in S.Steel if they do produce them till the later part of 2010.And would expect quite a price hike if they do, for in reality the same watch as current sub with just a few cosmetic changes.

If you knew you wanted a SS sub date, would you wait or get one now? I am leaning towards getting one now b/c if I have to wait until late 2010 with the ceramic and normal increases, the watch could cost up to 50% more than what I can get one for today.

You can get a sub now, and then trade it in for the ceramic sub when it comes out.

The ceramic Sub will not be the same watch... It will have: .. the block case... . It will have the ceramic bezel insert and ball bearing mounted 120 click bezel. . Solid link bracelet . Advanced Glidelock clasp . Maxi dial with Chromalight lume . Parachrom equipped 3135 All this will come with an increase in weight and bulk, even though the actual case measurement size (40mm) will remain the same.. If these changes are going to be important to you, and knowing that they will come with a jump in price, then you should wait.. Personally, the current model has proven it's durability and staying power for over 50 years...... I like what they are offering now... I won't be in line for a new one.........

Will the new SS Sub have the polished middle piece in the bracelet like the GMT IIc?

But I doubt it.. The Sub will have more in common with the DSSD than it will have with the GMT IIc, and the GMT is a poor comparison. I believe that it will have a brushed bracelet... but even if it doesn't, it only takes about 2 minutes to brush it or have it brushed..

But I doubt that anyone will discount a BNIB Sub date 30% off retail after production ends (if the sea-dweller is one watch to learn from) I wish I had a few V serials brand new in box I sold for 5200 I would have sold them today for $6500 |

The 24 click is on the GMT watches on the Sub it will be 60 or 120 otherwise it would not be much good as a time lapse bezel.

As Padi mentioned, the GMT is 24 clicks.. It has a race that the bezel is mounted in with 24 detentes around the perimeter that a roller bearing "clicks" into for each hour.. It turns either direction..
The Sub has 4 spring mounted ball bearings and a unidirectional tooth at the corners of the case.. This unidirectional click tooth sticks up into teeth under the bezel and ratchet in only one direction.. It is 120 click..

Can only echo Tools' brilliant comments here.
I was recently faced with the same exact scenario and went with the current Sub. I love its classic looks. After seeing the new Bluesy i feel totally vindicated. The Supercase totally destroys its lines. I personally hope they dont bring out a Ceramic sub, unless it on the old case. I dont like the way Rolex are going with their sports/tool watches. I think ill be sticking to the pre owned or new in box market going forwards which is a shame as i relaly enjoyed the AD experience. |

It's really disappointing that they stuck the GMT with only 24 clicks if they had other options. I used my old GMT for a lot more time-keeping than I do the new one. The excess number of clicks is something I really miss on the watch. |

I have seen a WG ceramic sub today, and it was the most amazing watch i have ever seen, unbelievably heavy. While i have never owned a sub before, i am waiting for this one to come out in SS and I'm getting one. Absolutely love the watch.

I knows this is a long shot, but do you think it would be possible to put a new Sub ceramic 120 click bezel on a GMT-IIc. I like the looks of the new GMT, but need the timing function of a Sub. Thanks in advance. |

The Sub will have the standard 3135 movement w/parachrom hairspring most likely.

The bezel on the new one is very, very smooth. I tried on one of the new 116613s today (black face), and while the bezel and clasp are nice, I did not like the white lettering on the dial (prefer the gold lettering of the 16613), and I'm in agreement that the new supercase doesn't resolve as nicely into the band as the case on the previous model, although it certainly doesn't destroy the lines of the watch...but to me, there's nothing there to justify an extra grand, particularly once you start looking at comparative discounts.
