Mayweather/Marquez

About to start in a few minutes...I told myself hell no, but the undercard wasn't bad, and too curious to see how Floyd looks..anyone else watching?

Wow!!! The king is back! Floyd looked more like Usain Bolt, and in a good way. For a 21 month layoff, he was FAST....sad to admit, I don't think Pac, as quick as he is, can beat Floyd. He made Juan Manuel Marquez, the universally regarded p4p #2 look like a lost amatuer. He looked lost, like Oscar did vs Pacquiao, and got dropped in the 2nd. I love Pacquiao, but I think p4p #1 is Floyd.

Maybe I'm overeacting, like I usually to tend to do right after a fight. Reason why I'm thinking is bc Marquez and Pac about the same height, so I was kind of envisioning Pac in there vs Floyd, but Pac punches 10x harder and is 10x faster than Marquez..the boxing sites are criticizing Floyd for not being able to put him away..a lightweight..The fight that needs to be made is Floyd vs Shane...that has fight of the year written all over it

Floyd was also allot heavier last night. It was an advantage-laden return fight. He fought a guy fighting 2 weight classes above his norm. we cant compare pacman with Marquez. There is none.Pacman has to win in his next fight good and than the stage is set but it seems sugar want floyd so?If he fights pacman they should agree on mayweather comming down in weight .If he is so good he should if not he will pull the comming in at 146-47 and pay the fine.

listen to the video.........ROFL

This would prolly be a very long long debate ....
Better wait for them to finish it on the ring to finally crown the official P4P champion!

GO PACMAN!! GO PILIPINAS!!!

Money Mayweather is just that...money!

Looked very good tonight and is the best fighter today.

He is one fighter I don't mind for being not humble. Fans disliked him in the past but he was and is the best.

Go Floyd....God Bless America!

This is a testament of how good his cardio and his quickness is. Enjoy it's pretty cool and it's only jump roping. P4P Greatest Fighter today.

It was odd to make a catchweight of 144 and not even make it. Floyd keeps himself in great shape, even throughout his 'retirement'.

I think Manny can match Floyd's handspeed, but power...the last time Floyd was in trouble was vs Jose Luis Castilo, and that was a good 6, 7 years ago.
Well Zab Judah did really well the 1st 3 or 4 rds.

Yes, Pac has to look good and win impressively vs Cotto, but I think I'd rather watch Shane vs Floyd. As far as p4p, acheivement wise/competition wise/excitement wise, it's Manny hands down. As far as actual skill, it's tough to decide

I think that skipping rope clip is training for the Gatti (R.I.P.) fight? That is some serious skill!!

You never know what's going to happen on any given fight night. But, after last tonight my confidence that Manny could take Floyd out has dwindled down to a "lets see which type of figher shows up that night" stance. Manny struggled vs Marquez in one of their fights that could've easily been JMM's decision, while Floyd made Marquez look like Arturo Gatti out there (from what I heard, I didn't see fight).

Manny unlike Marquez though can move up in weight and still have that punching power, I heard Floyd was laughing at JMM's best shots. Manny has lightning quick hands and they're heavy. However, as good as Floyd is, if Manny doesn't show up with his "A" game, he'll get made to look foolish and sloppy. It's scary though if you're a Manny fan, Marquez is regarded as a top 5 p4p fighter by many fight experts and fans, definitely no chop liver out there and Floyd made it look easy. I can't wait.

That's my point. I don't see how any judge could give Marquez any round. I had it 120-107. Floyd made #2 look like an amatuer, adn yes, he laughed off any Marquez flurry. Then, you have to look at the factors like weight-Manny puts on weight and takes on new weight classes like it's nothing, maybe it was too much for JMM...he did look soft around the middle

I wish I had the chance to get in on this when I was in Vegas a month and a half ago. Floyd was 4-1. I was a little worried about his rib issue, his semi-retirement, and I didn't have knowledge on who marquez was. But stupid me, kept betting on baseball instead of this match that I wanted at first.
Pacquiao is a 2.5 to 1. I also wanted to go with him. I hope I'm wrong on one of these, so I can at least be a little relieved that I would have lost anyway.

I don't a Pacquiao - PBF fight would be a walk in the park for Manny, but still would choose Pacquiao over Mayweather. I don't think the comparisons are the same. Just because Pacquiao had a hard time with JMM and PBF picked him apart doesn't mean Mayweather will do the same to Pacquiao. There are 2 other fights that could be referrence points that would make Pacquiao look better - De La Hoya and Hatton.

I think the Filipino's swarming style of attack would make a far different fight against Mayweather. I would still choose the more exciting fighter anytime.

mayweather is upper echelon/rarified atmosphere kinda' stuff. pacman is really, really good - but nothing too etherial. the more amazing fight would be sugar vs money.

That's a good point...the old cliche is very true-'styles make fights' you could play 6 degrees of separation with ALOT of fighters, for instance: Fernando Vargas beat Winky Wright, who beat Shane Mosley, who beat Ricardo Mayorga, who beat Vernon Forrest (R.I.P.) who beat Shane Mosley, who beat Antonio Margarito, who lost to Paul Williams, who beat Winky Wright, Margarito beat Miguel Cotto, who beat Mosley, who beat Vargas 2x, who Mayorga beat...on and on...

Floyd just looked so fast, but whether he chose not to or just couldn't put away Marquez says something. Marquez is obviously the much smaller guy.
My heart is with Pac, but that will/would be the ULTIMATE fight in a long time...2 fighters who have claim to being the p4p #1 in the world....provided Pac gets by Cotto, and provided they can come to an agreement, cause it seems like either side is not willing to budge. If Pac gets by Cotto but unimpressively, then maybe Mayweather will have the upper hand at the negotiating table.

And yes Cody, the boxing forums have a nickname for someone who constantly praises a fighter= a 'nuthugger', lol.
If that is the case with me as far as Manny, I still think THE fight that needs to be made is Shane vs Floyd
