Anyone familiar with Geneve watches?

I'm not a watch aficionado, so I don't know much about this Geneve watch I have. I was hoping someone here could tell me if it's anything special, as well as what it might be worth on the open market.

It's a 14k gold Geneve Quartz watch with a lizard calf band. I received it as a high school graduation gift way back in 1998. It's never been worn, and is thus is new condition. I took it to a local jeweler last week and had the battery replaced and the watch re-sealed -- it functions and keeps time perfectly. The store owner gave me an idea of what he thought it's worth, but I don't know if he's blowing smoke or not.

Here are some pics (sorry for the crappy quality -- I can get some better pictures soon if that would help):

Thanks in advance for educating a newbie. I did do a search for Geneve watches on this forum, but didn't get any results that pertained to this.

I'm no expert on this but I'll share what I heard a few years back in the Jewelry Mart section of LA. Geneve watches were jewelry that contained a basic movement rather than a watch that was jeweled. The cases were filled with hundreds of ladies 18kt gold dress watches sold under this label as were the "fashion victim" heavy gold nugget style bracelet watches for men. I recall seeing them weighed to determine the value and price.
