312 resales
I have been planning on purchasing a 312 but have noticed lately on TRF and Paneristi a lot of resales from owners who state they have owned the watch for couple of weeks to a couple of months and are selling the watch. I am a bit concerned about that because its not clear why they are reselling but I find it very unusual for such a quick flip. I've worn the watch and its big but not for a PAM. I would appreciate any feedback from current or previous owners who sold or are planning to keep the watch.
Thanks. TONY G.

I don't know why others are flipping it but I sure do love mine and can't see me doing it anytime soon.

I'm fairly confident I'm going to keep mine because I have owned a few PAMs in the past and this one has what I want: -1950s brushed case -steel hands -quick strap change -thickness -REG TM on the crown guard -in-house movement -clean dial -sandwich dial -300M WR rating You can't go wrong. And if you do, you can sell it pretty quick. I inquired about a few second hand 312s and they all sold pretty quickly for nearly the price they paid. |

Buying a 312 at around less 20% and then just trying to sell it BNIB just under MRSP for a quick few bucks ?? Shall we say a quick $500-1000 profit ?? Simple
PAM28L going for around $12K.Same logic. Remember pre-recession pricing on the following .... 127/217/24/232/203 ?? Again, simple horological finance 101. SS Daytonas, especially around 2007 and early 2008,also very high prices in the secondary market. Anything is just worth what someone else is prepared to pay for it .... a house/shares/car/watches etc.Thats the worth in $$$..... .... BUT,a PAM on the wrist is priceless !! |

I am not sure what type of deal you all got but 20% on the 312 was just not to be had...I, like REDBARON, called all the dealers to work the angles...the watch was hyped and hot..
and what I see for sale in the 2nd hand market is what I paid BNIB from a AD... so...unless they got a fantastic deal...they make what $200-300 after the whole transaction? there will be flippers for that $200..and there are people that just want to get another watch... but I plan on keeping mine similar to the reasons that Redbaron listed...the affordable inhouse movement really hooked me this time...its a very good value...

Well, for those who sold their 312, I don't know if they made few bucks, broke even or even lost few bucks. One thing I know for sure though, they made someone very HAPPY. And that my friend is all it matters.

My guess is they didn't try it on before they bought it and once home they realized it was just too big for them or didn't sit right on their arm. I've bought a few watches then after trying them on for a few weeks you get the feeling they just aren't doing it anymore so you sell it.
What we need is a company that sells high end watches but lets the owner sell it back to the company at a set rate schedule if they decide to or they can keep it or sell it on their own. I think yiou would find more guys willing to try high end watches if they knew there was a way out that was hassle free. My first Rolex was a no date sub that after a few months I realized I didn't like the bent metal clasp and bracelett so I sold it. I sold it for a only hundred than I paid for it so I looked at it as if I had "rented" it for a little while and now it's in a new home.

The 312 rocks! You can find most any PAM you want on sencondary market, dealer or otherwise. Watches are always going to be flipped.

I'm selling my 312 to fund another piece. Unless you can get 20% off, it's not really worth flipping. :)

Well I guess I sold my Milguass GV for the same reason. I wanted it for a long time and when I finally got it, enjoyed it for a while but I wasn't "in love" with it and ended up selling for a loss but not too bad. Now I am stuck in the situation where I want another piece but can't decide between a 312, 233 or another Daytona. BTW havent seen too many 233 resales out there. What are the 233 fetching from the AD's or grey market nowdays?

Funny you mention the 312 resales - I see a ton of 233s for sale now too. 'Tis the season.
