I have both.
They are different, and you should go with the one that your gut tells you. The points re clasp on the YM are a red herring IMO. Yes it's not an engineering masterpiece like the GMT, but that simplicity is part of it's appeal - the clasp sits far more flush and isn't going to break and cause costly repairs. I have toyed with replacing it but decided not to. They both have solid centre links. They both have bezels that if damaged will cost. Neither are 'too' flashy out in the 'wild'. I would suggest getting the one that compliments whatever you already have. You should be able to get pre-owned in similar condition for similar price. My vote is for the YM. |

I would buy what I liked regardless of price etc. For me its the GMT IMHO the YM came and went
