It is always "buyer Beware" when purchasing on-line.. The best way to ensure that you get what you expect to get is to do your research on the seller.

Check feedback on the seller and any buyers who's who on forums..

You always need to be aware of your import and customs laws when importing a watch from overseas.. It could cost almost as much as the watch to import in some countries, and as for the US, it is illegal to import a Rolex at all..

Even though you are researching on-line you can still contact the seller and after speaking with the individual you may gain a little more ground in the trust department.

As has been often stated, the first job is to "buy the seller", or see if confidence in a fair transaction is merited. Many times it is indeed, we tend to hear of bad deals more often than good ones. You are correct to be careful with such a large sum of money. Best of luck!!

As already said, the seller, his reputation, previous sales, etc. Using paypal and a credit card give you some measure of recourse if things go sour. If you feel anything is not 100%, I would pass on the deal.

There are rules to buying a Rolex on the internet and here they are:

1. Dont buy a fake. Its a real bummer to lay down a few grand on a $50 fake.

2. Dont send $ without getting the watch first. Even worse than buying a fake is sending money and getting nothing in return.

3. It is better to give than receive. Sooo...if your in the buying mood, hook a brother up.

There you have it.

Nothing beats dealing with a trusted and reputable seller.....I'd check the for sale section of the forum before venturing out any further on line.

Hi Combat,
if the seller is trusted and can provide you reference, I would go with confidence. I've bought and sold many many watches on the net and everything went smooth.

If can I ask you, which kind of watch are you interested in ?

Regards,

Engi

I bought from form DavidSW and Mosco within last ten days. I wired them reasonably lare amounts of cash and they delivered extremely promptly. I just trusted what the TRF memebers were saying here and found they were right. Look around, call them up, talk to them do what your gut tells you

Thanks for the input.

I think the prevailing logic here is at the end of the day; is use that gut feeling.

Engi I'd rather not mention the seller or watch, only to protect the innocent.

Thanks Combat for your reply, my question was just to know the model.

Regards,

Engi

R1@160@alltimes buying from the forum sounds like the way to go.
I bought an excellent watch from this webstie after doing research. Even after doing research and finding out it was a reputable company, I was extremely nervous after wiring the money. I ended up calling the company after the wire transfer and the owner put me at ease. I received the watch without any problems. I would definately do some research into the buyer before releasing money. I don't like pushy salespeople, so I was extremely happy with my transaction.

Welcome to TRF, Combat

Sorry your deal didn't push through, I'm sure something else will come up.

Good luck on your search.
