That is a subject that I have recently given a lot of thought. The 6239 I bought from the original owner's grandchildren only had the head at first. I just received the original jubilee bracelet which is in rebuildable condition.
I have already bought a bracelet, a USA expanding type and have that currently on the watch. That bracelet is being re-finished also. I want to keep the original jubilee bracelet with the watch so I guess it will have two. But the dial, hands, bezel, case, and pushers will not be touched. The dial is beautiful unfortunately two of the tritium dots have disintegrated, a common occurrence. It usually happens at 3 and 9 o'clock just where your fingers would naturally pick up the dial. I could buy a new perfect dial and replace the original. I also just saw an NOS bezel that is period correct. Some prefer to make the watch look better or cleaner or whatever but I prefer to keep them as original as possible. JMHO =) maverick |
