Rolex Purchase Trends - Theory

I've noticed that those who own multiple time pieces sometimes own the same combinations or very close to the same. I notice a lot of DJ and Explorer owners and a lot of Sub and GMT owners.

My question is, do you guys think there could be a pattern derived from this? Are owners of a GMT more aesthetically drawn to buying a Submariner because the Sub has similar characteristics, etc?

Are there any other "couples" you all see owned together?

The SS Daytona and SDDS seem to go well together too , I believe that there are more members like myself that both own 116520 & 116660 ( amongst others they may have )

Could be a size thing.

The 40mm's stick together.

The 36mm's stick together.

I don't know.

None of mine remotely look alike.

Absolutely no rhyme or reason to my purchases. I buy whatever I lose sleep on. If I can't stop thinking about it, it's probably worth spending money over.

Mine look pretty similar. The "grail" watch (Daytona) that I will buy someday will look different.

I have a dj 36mm and a gmtc 2 tt, the wierd thing is they are both two tone and black face, that is my weakness.......anything with a little precious metal and a black face.......i must point out, I love the new dssd as well and if they made that in a tt I would LOOOOOOOVE it. So for me it is more the Colors and Metal combo than the style od the watch.

I don't see much of a pattern in my collection.....just buy what I like....a bit of variation is good

I think there's something to the 'dress vs sport' thing too. Seems those with two Rolexes have one that can be technically classified as each maybe?
