John Mayer loves his watches...
I heard a local radio show in Colorado yesterday morning and the guest was John Mayer. I was quite impressed with his level of knowledge of watches. Vintage Rolex especially. Sounds to me like he is quite the collector. I have always appreciated his music and now I like him even more, vintage guitars and vintage rolex'...doesnt get any better!

It is cool to see somebody with his influence and status actually appreciate these watches as collector pieces. You could hear the passion in his voice when he was talking about the watches he owns. I have always respected his music but I really think he is one of the very few "celebrities" who have remembered where they came from..Great to see!!

I'm tall and young. I think not being the biggest tool in my industry of choice makes up for the rest. His music makes me want to barf.

Personally I have no idea who this Mr. Mayer is , but always nice to hear about a "celeb" who seems to know a few things about watches...
Cheers, Joe

For the shows he carries like 10 to 15 high end watches and chooses which one to wear... before going to the stage... and I believe he also lets some of his musicians wear some too.. (I am sure they have to return them back...)..
He has been photographed with very nice vintage examples...

John Mayer is the man. He can play guitar no doubt. His biggest influence was Stevie Ray Vaughn, and it shows in his playing if you listen for it.
Anyway, he is a major watch nut. I have his concert in LA on Blu Ray and I have seen and old Sub on a nato, and what looked like an old Daytona/Cosmograph. He switches out his watches a few times. Its dark so its hard to get a good look at them. |

And a bit more goss, geez, I must start working Orlando Bloom’s WIS Obsession Posted on May 29th, 2009 Adam Keith No comments Orlando Bloom's Ref. 1655 Rolex Explorer III’m not the sort of person who gets his jollies from keeping up with what celebrities are wearing, doing, or thinking. However, because I love watches, I do tend to notice what others wear in this category–the famous included. Along with such WIS (”Watch Idiot Savant”) extraordinaires as John Mayer and Eric Clapton, actor Orlando Bloom has proven that when it comes to fine or unusual Rolex timepieces–the obsession is hardcore. It so happens that one of Bloom’s favorite Rolex models is one of the coolest vintage references of all time–the Ref. 1655 Explorer II, also known as the “Freccione” or occasionally, the “Steve McQueen Explorer II” (odd, as photos with McQueen wearing a Rolex invariably show him with a Submariner). Being a bigtime devotee of the Explorer II–any reference–Ive always respected Bloom’s choice on this one. The Rolex Ref. 1655 has become more and more coveted by collectors each year, who prize its understatement, tool watch credentials, and unique yet slightly quirky dial and 24-hour hand–which stand out from all other Oyster models. Prices have soared in recent years, particularly for choice examples. Bummer, makes me wish I’d acted when these used to go for a comparative song… However, Rolex Explorer II “Freccione” fans ready to act, can now get their chance to not only have such a superb example–but Bloom’s own, in fact! A group of the actor’s timepieces, including a customized Rolex Milgauss (the current model) and a c.1969 Ref. 1016 Explorer I, will be on the block at a NYC Antiquorum auction on June 11th–to support a UNICEF charity initiative. While I think Bloom might end up experiencing some seller’s remorse over giving up his prized Rolexes, I’m sure they won’t be the last he’ll own. As readers well know from their own experiences, the watch addiction bug is an impossible one to shake! |

Pav, I know he's a COMEX owner as well as seveal vintage Daytonas. I want to say I've seen a couple photos of a Mil. Sub.
At least one PVD Milgauss that Jennifer Aniston was wearing when they were an item. |
