Rolex Explorer 1016 v 114270 YouTube video (first effort)

Some feedback, please-- to get 2010 off to the right start.

Like so many of us here on TRF, the holidays have been nice in that they've given me just a little bit of time to experiment with some things that just don't seem to fit into any typical week. I do a lot of watch photography; and this year, tried my hand at some video.

Rolex Explorer 1016 v 114270 comparison

This is an extremely simple side-by-side of two synchronized Explorer models, one from 1960, the other a D-Series that I aquired in 2008. The voice-over is me, done real-time; after which I added some commentary with the YouTube Annotation feature.

Of course there's an Ian Fleming / James Bond connection to this. So, with that, and all else, please do let me know what you think. Thanks!

PS: Maybe there's a way to embed a YouTube video on TRF? If so, I'd welcome that input, too.

What a great idea! Both wonderful watches, too! It is really interesting to me, how subtle the difference is between the two, considering the beats per minute difference is considerable.
Damn! I just made a resolution - no more watches till 2011. Now I have seen your video, I want to get an Explorer real bad!

Interesting--

Made just such a commitment myself, last year. Though not as a New Year's resolution, believe me, I can empathize. It struck me sometime in early December that the year was almost up. That's probably when I really started to feel it most.

The worst thing was that I came across an absolutely perfect, and rarely offered James Bond watch on "that auction site," with a closing date of something like December 29. Keeping to my commitment, I messaged the Seller to see if he'd pull it and re-list for January 1. He "had to have the money now!"



Sadly, but perhaps justly, he sold it for 12% of what it was worth. (Yes: I did the math!) No follow up to him. I'm not into anger or revenge.

But I do appreciate "justice," on occasion!



As to the other comments here so far: Thanks! I appreciate the feedback and the time you've taken to look. It's also given me something to think about, as we're planning to release a number of "lists" and "reviews" of James Bond watches as part of the exhibit lead-up. So, why not do them as videos?
