pics of my dad's stuff (damage to a TT Sub just for JJ)
Just brought the family to phoenix. Grandpa is playing with my boy. I grabbed his 1982 DJ and his 1997 TT Sub.
The DJ is stunning. He had the dial replaced with a white dial when that came out after his was made back when the RSC's would actually do what a customer requested. He has documentation on it so next time it gets serviced, they shouldn't flip and try to put back on the champagne dial it originally came with. The TT sub is his daily wear. Just for JJ, I took pics of the chunk missing from the bezel, lots of scratches, and the beat up case.

Both look great.
The Sub shows the honest wear approiate for a 10 year old watch ment to be used. AND a tritium dial!! That little chunk looks to be just the insert--easy replacement. |

Great photos of two classic Rollies, and they have character (read dings & scratches ). A service run on those puppies would make 'em look brand new. The TT Blue is one year older than mine - excellent watches (and JJ didn't make me say that!).
Thanks for sharing, Jeff!

Hey Jeff,
What have I ever done to you to warrant these sad, pathetic pictures of my beloved favourite Rolex? Well, the watch seems to have withstood 10 long years of good, solid use....but there's nothing a qualified RSC cannot restore back to its original pristine condition. Thanks for posting, Jeff. JJ

Money's tight for dad this year so for his upcoming wedding anniversary gift, my brother and I are going to spring to have both serviced.
I love honest wear on a watch. He's been afraid to wear the DJ because of the acrylic, but I just introduced him to Polywatch and he's smiling now.

Yup, nothing like a few battlescars to show that you actually wear your watches for their intended purpose, as opposed to it being or looking like a safe-queen.
Getting his watches serviced is a helluva great gift for him. Well done! |
