Datejust Special Edition 2009

Hi folks!

Have a SS Yachtmaster 35mm and am now admiring one of the 2009 Rolex Datejust Special Editions. The one that has the Goldust(I think?)Mother of pearl face, diamond bezel/case.

Anyone know the name of this particular model?

Also was curious as to what Rolex means with watches labled "Special Edition"...are these only made that year?Limited production?Just curious...thanks kindly!

I'm not sure what the name of that particular model is..

However the Special Editions are a handful of Datejust models (I think in both 36mm and 34mm) that capitalize on the old Pearlmasters.

They use those special bracelets, diamond encrust them with great designs, use pave' dials and bezels (some are domed), and wild dials to give Ladies a more up-scale look than the traditional DJ and Pearlmaster models..

They are on they pricey side like the Masterpiece Models........... I also think that because they will not move as fast as, say a sport model, they will be around for a while and not strictly what you might think of as a limited-edition...

Thanks for the info Tools....very helpful.

The one I am looking at is on the Rolex website, under :

-2009 Collection
-Special Editions

They then have pics of three models to choose from. It's the third one that has my eye.Unlike most of the other pages on the Rolex site, these 3 watches do NOT have a "details" link to find out model #'s etc.

Have there been any pisc of the domed DJ's or other Rolex domed crystals posted recently?? I like the newer Omega domed crystals. Could more domed crystals be in the works for Basel 2010???

Yes, so does my wife. I looked awesome, but that dial was a little too busy. Being 34mm it's got some nice heft to it!

That's close, but not quite the one mb Hawaii.Although the one you are displaying is on the "buy in the future" list for my partner!
The one I am really curious about is white gold with goldust dream dial and diamonds on the bezel as well as the case edges.

Gorgeous,gorgeous watch there mb!
