Icon4 PayPal to the rescue !!

Apparently, do to my own fault I was scammed right here on TRF. I ordered 4 pouches from eddiehkg and never received them. I really wanted the pouches for my traveling. He sent me an PM and said he had 4 available and gave me his PayPal address. I sent him the $$ and since then he won't answer email or PMs. The admin just told me that he has been banned.

I paid with PayPal so I am hoping for a resolution.

Probably have to call your bank/credit card company ..

and explain what happened. You/they will file a chargeback. You didn't send the payment as "gift" did you? If so I'm not sure how that's handled.

Remember though...If purchasing outside of ebay there is...

really no protection to speak of that paypal offers. The buyer is protected as he can file a chargeback through his CC company and will always get it if defrauded. A seller is only protected if the "gift" box is checked. Then the buyer can't file claim. I purchased a 4k rolex a few years back (paid through paypal) and the guy sent a box of copy paper. He had tracking also. I filed a chargeback and had no problem.

I had a similar issue last month on an eBay purchase. You need to call your credit card company and file a claim within 90 days of purchase. You will be protected under your credit card whether paypal protects or not under the non-receipt of goods - they usually have an agreement with paypal for such instances - when I called to dispute the charge, the rep explained it to me pretty clearly and told me the steps i needed to take - they were very helpful.

Good luck

Sorry to hear that Mike,
You should be 100% covered , Since the seller doesn't have a record that he shipped you the item, it's should be simple. Just file a none received item and you will get your money back.
Paypal will ask you to file it with them first . .. " I don't recommend that" it takes lots of time.
It is better to do it with your credit card...
I know it's not the best process but at least you're covered.
Good Luck

you made a good point about using my CC first, will paypal take months? i'm tempted to just file it with AmEx right now because i know they are fast.

Paypal took about 2 weeks for me...I would still file a claim with paypal.
The more claims paypal receives, the better. His paypal accoutn needs to be suspended!
You dont want him to be able to use that account to do this again and again and again... just my 2 cents

If the seller did it correctly, you won't get any money back. Most people aren't that smart, so file with Paypal and Amex and you should be getting a refund eventually.

Not a big sting, but irritating.

eddiehkg contacted both me and PayPal for a address to send to. I have till 24th or so according to PayPal. Still kinda strange since when you pay for merchandise with PayPal they send the verified address to the seller with the receipt of payment. Oh well...

Maybe he was hoping you would fall of the map and go away.

Update

I won't be getting my money back.

I have 4 pouches with rectangle inserts as I ordered when I got home from my Las Vegas trip.

Basically all I can say is that the seller needs to work on his communication. Received pouches after only 12 days and pressing the issue with PayPal.

Thx,

Mike

Glad it worked out for you. Maybe the seller learned his lesson. Or maybe not.

Paypal

I have used Paypal regularly for years and have only had a few situations where I had to take action against a seller to get a payment refunded.

Paypal wants you to go thru them first & they can get quite agitated when you go to cc co. first, without going thru the Paypal dispute resolution process.

I suspect that this is because it increases Paypal's risk/exposure to get left holding the bag if you resolve directly with cc co. + Paypal can't collect from seller.

The process I have used with success is to initiate Paypal claim & then immediately go directly to cc co. & do same. Results are VERY fast!

Paypal still sends a grumpy message, but you have followed sequence they ask & get speedy results.
