Bezel Removal on a 16570

I have noticed a few scratches on the bezel of my "A" serial Explorer II. Since this bezel is fixed how would I go about removing it so I can get the scratches brushed out. Is there any other option I have without having to remove the bezel?

Don't do it, unless you know what you're doing (but then you wouldn't have asked would you?).

The bezel on the 16570 also keeps the crystal gasket in place, and a perfect fit is a must to ensure waterproofness (is that really a word?). You remove the bezel with a removal tool, and need a press to put it back on.

Also, the bezel on the 16570 is complicated to brush, at least if you want the original factory finish.

Yes. Be very careful doing that. If your new to this type thing, it's best to atleast watch someone do it a few times. Once you know how to remove the bezel, and keep the watch safe you'll be O.K. The finish is another story. I'd check with a trusted TRF member for their assistance. You don't want to jack up your nice watch "learning". Good luck!

That's a GMT 16710, and as you can see the retainer ring is still in place, keeping the glass, and gasket firmly in place. The rotateable bezel, though, is removed. And it is easy to put in place again. The retainer ring needs a press, just like the entire bezel on the ExII.

Hey, this is another watch. It is a rotating bezel, ( Subs, GMT's type) and the removal / refitting of their bezel is "a cup of tea" compared with the fixed one of the Explorers.

I change the bezels of my GMT within minutes, as well as straps and bracelets, but a fixed, i.e. non rotating or a ceramic bezel, is a completely DIFFERENT thing. Don' t do it !
