-10 s /day on a brand new 104

Hi there. Finally got a pam. Wanted one for like 2 years. 104 was my first choice two years ago. But what I really want lately was the 312. Since the AD didn't have the 312 and the 104's price was right, 104 is sitting on my wrist as I type. The COSC certificate states the variation on the watch is like +/-1.4to3 sec. / day. My first day of use already showing a -10s. Is this normal? Do I need a breaking period? Thanks for the responses

-10sec sounds like a lot. Let the power reserve run down and reset and test it again. If it's still slow by that much I would bring it back to your AD.

'Breaking in' is a myth. If it remains that slow, a simple regulation should sort it out (back within the -4/+6 range)

Cheers

That's not normal, but I would allow a break-in period if it was mine. Try turning it on its face, side, etc as well. You do have a warranty if something is wrong.....

Shouldn't be very far off, -10s is quite a lot for a brand new watch...

Congratulations on the new watch. If after a full run down and a rewind it is still out I'm sure it can be remedied pretty simply by the AD.

If it persists, take it back and have it checked out by the AD, maybe it just needs it to be demagnetized.

Congratulations! Love to see some pics!!

Wearing the watch for a few days isn't actually a "breaking in" period but, rather, exposing the movement to a number of different positions to help offset any deviation due to laying on a night stand over night etc.

Been there with my 111. It was +14 out of the box. My watchmaker got it to less than +1 in short order.

My first PAM 104 was -20 a day. Went in and they said they could tweek it or give me a new one. Took the new watch. Nothing more frustrating than dropping a few G's and the watch can't even keep time from the moment you get it.
