Icon20 No more changes in watch wearing...

For the next 15 days, I mean!

I´m leaving for vacations next Sunday, and will be back home in 15 days.

As my trip includes the possibility of some Scuba diving activity, I got my favorite dive watch: my trusty 14060M Sub no date.

All other watches left in the Bank vault now, so no way to change my mind.
Anyway, I feel I got the right one: a super strong, full waterproof watch in all sport diving situations, and a reliable time keeper.

So, this will be my only watch for the next 15 days from now!

Anyone there planning to use same watch for a "long" term?

Best cordial regards, Abel

I rotate my 3 every 15 days, because my 1680 is not quick-set, so it gets picked back up on the date it quit the following month!

Great idea! Will copy this with my own 1680 (1977 vintage)

Very cordially, Abel

Hard to pick a better "long term" than the classic.

Abel,
I'll be traveling to Aruba next week but I don't think it will involve scuba diving.
Have a great time and don't forget pics.

Hi Larry and Dan!! Thanks for your good wishes and comments.
I love Aruba. Been there several times scuba diving and my no diver wife more than happy with their beautiful beaches and shopping.

Anyway, I have a bit scaring watch related story there, that happened in a 1992 or 1993 visit.
I had taken my trusty 1680 Sub date on that occasion, which I used for scuba diving there.
Then somehow, visiting the numerous jewlery stores there, I fell in love with a very simple (and much less costly) Victorinox steel watch with a thin gold bezel and leather straps. I bought it and started using my new watch in the nights, kept the Sub in the safe and only took it to dive during day time.

Last night before our returning flight we prepared our luggage, and took all valuables from the safe. The Rolex Sub I put inside my wife cosmetics purse, jewels, clothes, etc. exeption of money, passports and plane tickets was left inside the Samosnites, with their locks put.

Then we went to dinner, and when returning to the apartment, I received a phone call asking for me from a friend called Jack.
I said it was a mistake, because I don´t know anyone called Jack in my own Country, and much less in Aruba, and hung.

Then my son came and told me that he had his samsonite lock broken. I was rather upset because I thought that my child was playing with the lock, and ruined it, but soon discovered that all our four Samsonites had their locks broken.
First thing I thought of was my Rolex Sub!! A very cool feeling went through my back!!

We checked all our baggage, and to my relief, my Sub was there inside my wife purse.
Nothing was missing in our baggage, not a single little pin, but things showed someone has been looking for something inside our bags.

May be that Jack had something to do with that, and they confused me with another person. My wife and my two children were very scared, and we called the Police and the Hotel Security. (We were staying in a High Rise high end Hotel)

The Hotel took care of the replacement of all luggage locks, and the Police filled a report, but as nothing was missing, the case was closed.
We had a hurry in the following morning to take the baggage to the town to have the locks replaced before our flight departure, and we were rather upset for the experience.

Anyway, we returned several more times to Aruba later (also to Bonaire,my favorite scuba place!) and never had a similar bad experience again.

Conclussion: Never take off your valuable watch, and travel with only one. If you buy something new, keep it with you all the time, or inside the safe!!

Just a little story with a happy ending!!
Have a nice stay at Aruba, don´t be scared with my story, that happened many many years ago, and keep an eye on your watch!! Aruba is a wonderful place!

Best cordial regards, Abel
