When did the DJ change from being non quickset? Is the quickset a different movement or a modified 1570?

Yes , the 3035 is rather diff. to the 15XX.

From what I can get from Dowling and Hess references, the QS movement was introduced about 1977. It was a newly developed movement, requiring a flat dial instead of the old 1600 'piepan' design. Does that help?

From what I've seen- the President was the first with the QS, DJs & Sports got it a year or so after...

A good tell-tale sign of an early QS, 3000-series movement (the proper movement) is that they set backwards. Turning the crown backwards, towards you, sets the hands forward.

If you pick-up a late 70s/early 80s DJ and it sets conventionally- it does not have its original movement, or even worse- an ETA...
