GMT Master AD Bezel Replacement Question?? 16710
When you have the bezel insert replaced at an AD, do they reference the watches serial number to determine the correct bezel insert color?
I called my local AD today to ask them if they could replace my bezel insert. They said sure they would just check the serial number to determine the correct bezel and color. Anyone else have experience with this? I currently have a black bezel insert and I want a new one put installed. But I believe my original bezel was a coke. If anyone knows for sure please fill me in. |

I changed my bezel insert on my 16710 from Coke to Pepsi in Sept 2004 at the former Los Angeles RSC (Beverly Hills) and the agent did check the SN of my watch in their database (probably for lost/stolen information). I am not sure if the bezel color was verified.

It is a Rolex policy to get the serial number, BUT, don't worry about it. I have ordered a pepsi insert for a coke serial numbered watch and I have ordered a coke inset for a pepsi serial numbered watch, I have also ordered a couple of solid black inserts for them.
They will take the serial number but Rolex must not check to see if the insert being ordered matches the original insert on the watch, I have never had a problem. I think Rolex is only checking the authenticity of the watch, not original insert color. Just go order it and enjoy.

Sounds like you AD is being very cautious- a lot of ADs are lately, especially in my area- where many have lost their Rolex charter.
I'm sure there is a databse that can affirm your original color, but you can request any color you want. I know you can tell by the model number on the card- like mine is a 16710 BO (Pepsi) then there's (I think) a 16710 RO (coke) and an 16710 N (black). But don't quote me exactly... |

Sorry JediRolex i didn't see your thread before i posted mine, as i funnily asked the very same question on my thread. Maybe between our questions, we will find the answer. Its because i would like to buy a Pepsi model, but is the one i buy, originaly a coke model with a changed bezel. Sorry again.
