Similar situation here, but last summer. Did not mention discounts in the annoucement. I was there there quite a few times since then just browsing. Not sure what discounts are available. Got a SS Daytona from this AD in May 2008. No discount. Duh, no sh*t on a SS Daytona

Subs are out of stock at Rolex, most AD's don't have one and they are back ordered until March. Rolex told my AD they could not guarantee delivery in March either. The new Sub will be announced at Basel and ship shortly thereafter. Rolex sales told my AD that the new Sub sould be out in April. Getting a discount on the current Sub is difficult now.

Not a Rolex AD, but my Breitling/Tag/Omega AD offered me 15-20% off on SS models, even though they kept sticking to 10-12% discount all year long in 2009. Maybe the luxury market got a serious hit after xmas...

We both have the same AD... and the one at Easton nearly threatened to charge more than MSRP because they "can't keep them in stock". Every watch he had was the last one in stock, according to him. Funny how the 14060 was an early "Z" serial--- not sure why--- if it sells so fast---why they wouldn't have a "V" in stock, instead.
Oh, And Jared was willing to take off a few dollars to be nice, but not enough to make me desire to pay them nearly full boat price for a Serial "D" watch. One day I'll make a Mosco trip to Cinci area. |

I am not going to name names but I just bought a GMT IIC cash and got 20% off list in the UK. £3575 to be precise!!! Now that is good discount for the UK!!! Yes it was an AD but I have spent a pretty penny with them over the last 2 years.

its gotta be that you are in detroit and the other guy with 30% is in iowa so that is a smaller market.. In large thriving urban cities they generally dont give more than 20. in new orleans we can generally get 20 unless its a ss sub-date or an ss daytona.

AD in Washington DC offered me 15% off a TT Datejust today. And, he'd never seen me before, i.e., not a regular customer.

I haven't read all 6 pages (sorry i'm tired and watching Family Guy) but is the general jist of this thread that it started as an April fool and now people are posting actual (well they say they're actual but i suspect some are still made up) discounts received?
EDIT - OMFG I've just read all 6 pages and NONE OF YOU NOTICED THAT THE OP POSTED THE THREAD AS AN APRIL FOOL and everyone took it seriously That's one of the funniest things i've ever seen on a forum, you've all made my evening. Not many things are funnier than Family Guy but this is |

You guys are better business men than me! I buy a fine watch so rarely that I don't really have time to cultivate a relationship or haggle.

Canadian AD"S offering 20% off
The AD"S in Montreal are all offering 20% the submariners without even asking! I walked into the store and they dropped the price within one minute!
However, when I pressed them for a further discount they refused to budge even one dollar from the 20% off price! |

I think we're getting a bit of transatlantic confusion here - 30% (from the state of the market) seems possible in America, but it would be a bit of a joke if ADs were offering that over here. Most I've ever seen is 20% on a very high end 18ct and Diamond Pearlmaster

I think we can all have fun laughing at eachother
What i think happened is that the OP posted it as an April fool, expecting answers and replies like "Hahaha, nice one" "Yeah man, i'm getting 50% - but just today only!!" "Lol, i get ya" etc... But when people all started replying seriously the OP obviously felt a bit sheepish/embarrassed to admit he'd been fooling so went along with it.... And of course he won't admit that now! |
