GMT II Coke Z5xxx serial with 3186?

Hi all,

We've just been surprised by Kevin's finding that his GMT II with Z1xx (read it all here http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=115542) comes with the 3186.

Now there's a new twist also. There's a guy out there claiming his Coke with Z5XX serial also comes with 3186. What's funny is, he only claimed so after I asked him to perform "The Crown Method" test in which he replied, I quote,

"Dear xxxx,

Minute hand moves 9, hour hand moves 5 with each revolution.

- yyyy"

From his response above, we know it's not 3186 but 3185. I've asked him to provide photo proof of the 3186 inside. If he doesn't, do you guys think I should alert the site admin because he's cheating his potential buyer? Comments?

If he is trying to sell based on movement, then he definitely needs to back it up.

3186

I've seen a few of Z3xxxxx to Z6xxxxx GMT II that have the old 3185 movements, and currently own a Z66xxxx with 3185. kgglonghorn's Z1xxxxx is the first documented (by RSC) that has the 3186.

The RSC document will most likely only state that your watch is an original watch with an original 3186 movement in it and will not confirm in writing that the particular Z1XXXXX case was originally fitted with that movement . I doubt that RSC Dallas has access to data that Rolex does not seem to keep or certainly doesn't disclose . We will see what comes back in writing from RSC , if not , the whole exercise of sending it off would prove pointless.

When I get the doc, I will post, but as far as I am concerned, if Rolex is good with my watch, then I am good with my watch. I am not flipping it...it will be in my family a loooooooong time.
