Pro-Hunter Styles

I came upon the Pro-Hunter watches while looking on the Antiquorum auction website today. I think they are very appealing especially for their new Submariner military PVD watch. They are each limited edition to 100 pieces each. Aside from the price, I think they are pretty sweet looking. These are selling on the secondary market for higher than what they cost at retail and I have not seen one for sale before except on the site.

IMO the first one is way out of line and the rest are queueing up behind it.

I like it, but $42,000 at auction? Wow! I know it's a limited production, but...

I have to wonder at the "limited edition' description because the watches were not in limited production by Rolex but instead by an external party.

Does it really mean anything or does it really enhance value if someone other than Rolex modifies 100 watches and then sells them at a premium claiming they are limited in numbers?

Personally, I don't think so - IMO for something to be truly limited and thus command a premium, it'd have to be issued by the original manufacturer. Or am I missing something?

I love the look of PVD'ed Rolies, I wish Rolex would offer them on the SS Models from factory, or as an after market service by an RSC with offical papers.

I am not to keen on the prohunters though, pricing seems way off and I am not to keen on the modded dials.

I also started a thread about Pro-Hunters to see what the opinion was and it got deleted, I guess they are not the flavor of the month!! LOL

I kinda like the GMT... from a distance...

Gloss dials and WG hands/surrounds seem at odds with the DLC treatment and military image.

And just what we needed - more text on a Rolex dial

Cheers

Enough already! Somebody, I say Somebody needs to post a picture of one of these honeydews after being worn, for say, a year? The whole subject of these watches has become stagnant. Everybody agrees that you either do or don't like them, let's see how they wear in the wild!
Rant terminated.

It's either a do or don't on these. But I do agree with some, the price is very high for a watch like this.

GMT2-c might be okay in a Nato strap. But the Sub? TH! As in "trying hard" to look like the original milsub.
