Have you ever seen
a Rolex Submariner without a crown on the dial? I was looking at a couple of Rolex at a shop and tried on a Sub. I noticed that there was no crown on the dial. I asked the guy behind the counter and he said that it was common in 1985. I have never seen any Rolex without the crown and found it odd.

that is that is my birth year and I have researched several 16800's and held and tried on close to 50 so far...but none were "THE ONE" yet...NEVER ONCE have I seen one without the crown...walk away slowly from that shop...and then once you hit the door, RUN! and dont look back!

The crown, is the "trade mark" of the manufacturer.
It is "registered" and "protected" so only "their" products can bear it. No trade mark, means that the "item" is NOT made by them.

Oh, I have seen that before......Note the "R" is really an "F" for Folex See if he will open-up the case so that we can take a gander of the movement.
