Well I did a search for DIY and guess what? Not a single hit, not a single mention of DIY anywhere on TRF

Anyways, I have two hobbies that I quite enjoy, one is woodwork and the other electronics.

Now Im thinking, watch winder, a combination of my two hobbies! This has to be done - a nice burmese teak or zebrano wood watch winder that I can modify to do whatever I want, for as long as I want, or for that matter, dont want.

So anyone know where I can get some ideas, plans, sketches etc??

Has anyone tried something like this before??
Anyone got some close-up snaps of the guts of their watch winders??

I just did a quick search, and agree that the information is limited at best.

Here is tho only one I came across... a bit bulky though.

Sounds like an interesting project. The wood/frame- not too hard. A Programmable "spinning motor", hmm. That wll take a little research on the builders part. If you wanted & didnt mind, you could have a cord coming off the back end (hidden behind a dresser), connected to a timer( A'La, sprinkler, or home light setup), to go off/on at desired times...

Actually the timer is the least of my worries, there are so many options available that are really quick, cheap n easy - 555 or 556 timer for basic timing and if you want complex then a 4081 or similar will work but its a bit more complex.

What I need to get right are the angles, RPM and watch attachment. So if anyone has some ideas on how many revs per minute and what the best angle would be, please dont be shy :)
