You'd think Bond could get a NATO strap that's 20mm wide and not some NATO strap off a woman's watch.

The story goes the watch used may have been a 5510 or 6538 that was loaned for shooting. The "urban legend" is that the bracelet on the watch didn't fit Connery's wrist and a NATO strap was substituted. I'm not sure whether to believe this or not.

I agree that Rolex missed the boat with the Bond films but Omega has the $$$ to pay for the placement. My guess was that Rolex felt the money was better spent someplace else.

For the real Bond fans, it's the books that count. That's where Bond is a hard drinking, womanizing, rough-housing, Rolex wearing, Barretta packing, SOB.

If you haven't read one, do it. They are a quick and easy read and they make the films take a distant second place.

Wrong watch! You need a SS Sub non-date with pop-up bezel shapped like a saw.

G&T, I feel the same way... Ian Fleming wrote some great stuff... the movies have homogenized the bond character.

In the original Casino Royale film, he wears a GMT Master.
