We seem to have a number of people with a great deal of photographic knowledge? I have technical question that hopefully somebody can answer:

How can a photo be taken that will show the beam given off by a pointing laser? I've tried smoke and steam to make it visible, but with only limited success. I know I've seen pictures with very well defined beams - are they Photoshopped, or is there a technique? Infra-red film? Not sure how to make that work with a digital camera. Colored filter perhaps?

Any ideas?

Use a long exposure, like ten seconds or more. I have found the best thing to make the laser show up is baby powder.

That's great, Robert. After the photo, you can puff a little on your butt to make it silky smooth! Kill two birds with one stone, so to speak.
