hi topmill...thanks for your service...i'm a military retiree, and really hope your story has a happy ending...my dad was given an engraved Longines Hall of Fame "A" watch for his retirement in 1955...I looked it up, and the original price was $74.50...but as you stated, it's not the money...having a remembrance of a wonderful guy is what it's all about...
