Icon20 New here - hello all! Rolex Submariner 16610LV

First of all I would just like to say hi to everyone on this forum, and tell you all that its a great place and nice to be around fellow watch lovers.

I am a Rolex virgin, but I have admired them for quite some years.

The time has come in my life to take the step and get my first Rolex.

I have been looking around, and think I have... no, I know I have fallen in love with the Submariner 16610LV.

I will be looking to purchase one of these in the near future, but I thought I would ask the wise people of this forum a few questions beforehand.

So, as you have probably guessed by now, its the Sub 16610LV that I am interested in.

Is there anything in particular that I should look out for with this particular watch?

What do the differant 'series' mean exactly?

When did production start, and when is it due to finish?

Also any other useful information would be great.

Thank you very much ladies and gentlemen.

El Capitano.

PS, I am in the North of England.

welcome to the community. Production started in 2003 with the Y serial to commemorate the 50 year anniversary of the inception of the Submariner line. Production ends this year with the new random serial (since this year Rolex has stopped using the letter first serial numbers and has replaced them with random numbers and letters combined). For example, if someone owned a "Z" serial Rolex, he or she would know that it was produced in 2006 around. The LV, as you probably know, has a green bezel, which looks great in person. And the other large difference is the "maxi dial" when compared to your normal Submariner. The hour markers and minute hand are larger and are treated with more luminova, that way you get a BEAUTIFUL full lume. I've gotten so used to the maxi dial that looking at normal Subs is a bit weird for me now even as I owned one for half a year. Other than that the LV is the same as the standard Sub, with the always sturdy 3135 movement. The network54.com link provided above gives you the different dial and bezel variations of the LV. Hope that helps.

I haven't seen any 16610LV with the new random serial, only the standard 16610.
I would be very happy to see evidence contrary to that.
