That Rolex is still availabe but with a heavier specced up bracelet (since around 2000) and rolex branding.

I'm not 100% sure but I think the answer is yes. I've been told that if you find a used Day-date in nice condition that doesn't have the dial that you want, it's possible to take it to Rolex and have the dial you want fitted - for a price of course, plus service.
