Reguarding the size of a watch. I was told by master watchmaker friend of my mother that a watch was too big if the watch distracted from you the person. The 30 to 36mm sizes were considered to be normal for the male and 20 to 28 mm for the female. The same rule for the watch distracting from you also applies with bling. By the way, my mother's friend obtain his master's certification from a small Swiss firm "Patek Phillipe". He passed away in the early 80's. He was great influence in my love for watches.

Why the sudden worry about huge watches? It's not that classic watches like the DJ are small, it's that newer watches are often huge. I've been looking at the Panerai 292 and it looks almost clownish. It's as big as a large pocket watch. Some sort of bizarre arms race is happening. I guess if your clinically obese, a big watch is in order, otherwise historic sized watches are appropriate. I think a huge watch on an average wrist is about as tasteful as a 1/2" thick rope necklace laying on a large expanse of hairy chest. "Me man... Me have huge watch". Only you can decide if a watch looks good on you.

My question to you is what do you want and who cares what others might think? Get the watch you want and enjoy the heck out of it. Just because the trend right now is for bigger watches doesn't mean you have to follow that trend!!!

I think you need to atleast check out a 38mm or 40mm watch. It sounds like the DJ may be too small. I don't know that you'd be completely happy with a smaller watch.
