why do those guys at Ben Bridge Jewlers keep telling me the No Date COSC sub has...

.... gone out of production?

I know, I know: they want me to buy one from them today. I'm opposed to people lying. Doesn't make me feel good about me giving them my business

Actually I was in Wempe and witnessed the SAME phenomenon! The saleswoman told a man that the 14060M was out of production now and a collectors item. (this was after the purchase, but I still disapproved of it)

Oh I love Wempe, I believe it was the Austrian saleswoman, this occurred maybe three or four days ago.

I tried on an AP RO, a PP 5107, a PP Aquanaut, a JLC MC HM, and a IWC Mark XVI while I was there. The salesman, (an elderly man wearing an SS DJ) was quite nice and put up with my finicky ways!

Yup, it was a funny... seems like some AD's will say/do anything to sell a watch these days... I know sales are tough but come on. If I was an AD I would rather build a relationship and get a sale tomorrow and several more in the future then one today with lies or mis-information. Its just too bad folks will say anything for a buck

Salespeople are now trained to "sell the sizzle, not the steak" It's easier, cheaper, no product training, just B.S. the customer, "quick hit" sales I call it. They probably figure there's a zillion customers out there, who cares if he/she never returns. IMO, no more class, ethics, professionalism in sales these days.
I am an old school salesman, know & sell the product, build a relationship w/ the buyer by being a business partner and making sure the product mix is right for the customer & works for the customer. The customer is king, they do not grow on trees...trust me I have been selling for decades...trust me...I am the doctor of sales....take 2 Bombay martinis...shaken, not stirred & call me in the a.m.

"Sell the sizzle, not the steak".......I approve of that phrase! Haven't heard it before.
