Thoughts of the 116718 (GMT II-C)

I am conflicted. I own a 116713 and have been having dreams about the 116718. Can you expereienced members give me the pros and cons of going all gold vs TT? Any advice from current owners or flippers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The 50th Anniversary Model with the Green Bezel had an excellent review in the Watch Time Magazine - March 2007. 94 points out of a hundred. By far the highest points ever scored by a Rolex model.
The Sub Date scored 88 points.
The SeaDweller scored 89 points.
The Daytona 116520 got a 91 points.

FYI-The Yachtmaster II got a 95 in Watchtime Magazine, the highest score for any watch ever rated.

I prefer the TT more because the gold is too much bling for me.... I don't know, in 10 years I may just grab that gold one without hesitation...

Great watches, I personaly would avoid the green face, it looks like a tennis court. Just my opinion. The weight is nice and The black face has the green 24 hour hand, green writing, as well as the green date wheel.

I think the all gold GMT looks much nicer, it probably has a better presence on the wrist too.

I have both 116710 and 116718. I don't have a 116713 but seen a few.

As members have stated the 116718 is heavy and very solid feeling. I wanted to dress up my daily work watch a little and really like the 116710 so much I never wore any other watches.

The 116718 was a perfect addition because my 118348 was just too much for a daily wear!!

Mike

Hi Sam,

Just a bit of friendly, experienced advice..........

You already own the stunning TT model, so if you plan on selling it and upgrading to the YG model, you are going to lose money.

Don't you think it would be a better idea to hang on to that stunning TT model and with the difference in $$$ look at some other beautiful options?

Just a thought.

Good luck - JJ

Mr. JJ!!! - Thanks for your words of wisdom. When I posted my initial thread (Thoughts of the 116718) I had folks PM me to offer their advice, after much thought and of course consultation with my wife I decided to purchase a GV through Oscar (bodybump) - (pic posted on Thoughts of the 116718 - Update!). For now I will enjoy the fine pics from the likes of Invision, propeddurkustom, and mortgageguy. I am glad this forum exist with so many awesome folks who are willing to offer sound and genuine advice. Thanks again for your response.

I believe this to be true. My advice is if your going to buy a gold or platinum Rolex watch make sure you get a serious discount!
