Hologram Stickers

Noticed that some stickers have font which is clean, clear and concise while others look a bit "blurred"? With regard to the typed / printed model #. Any thoughts out there....

Some have been worn with the hologram on, hence the blurring of the font. Eventually it'll disappear. The appropriate thing to do is remove it as soon as the watch is purchased, and if keeping it is a big deal (I can't imagine why it would be), then stick it onto a corner of the warranty certificate.

Btw, it's been suggested that leaving the hologram on may trap moisture behind it and eventually lead to premature caseback pitting and corrosion.

Hi Dieler,

This is exactly how a brand new hologram on a brand new watch should look like. Anything else is a fake. If it's old and worn out, that's a different matter.

But if the watch is new, this is the one!!

The printing on my TOG hologram was a little blurry from the day I bought it brand new from the AD. After wearing for over a year the blurring is exactly the same, no better or worse. Yes, I know I should remove the hologram but I just can't seem to make myself do it. I did remove the protective plastic film on the case and bracelet though...

Help, I just removed my sticker and it left a sticky, gooey mess! What should I do to get it off? Also, the sticker kind of left some of the green on the caseback. Is that normal for the sticker to do that?

Soap, water and an old toothbrush. That should do it. Just keep scrubbing with the brush and soapy water under running water.

You're welcome! And whatever you do, never use any solvents or chemicals you're not sure of. You could cause serious and permanent damage to the bezel markings.

Just stick with the time proven trio of soap, water and toothbrush and you'll be fine. After the wash, just wipe off with a towel and finally a nice soft, LINT-FREE cloth (a good one would be from an Optometrist, the kinda cloth used to clean eyeglass lenses). That should bring out the final shine from all that gorgeous steel.

I was just planning on liquid handsoap (maybe even no soap... just water). And for polishing I have the little cloth that cam in the box, however I am not really happy with the job it does. But I have a ton of microfiber cloths as those are the only thing I let touch my car or bike, and they work wonders on my glasses, so I was going to give on of those a shot

Yes, that would be a good idea. The little cloth that comes in the box is pretty useless!! Just used to cover the watch during shipment, I guess!!

Makes sense. Is it me, or does that cloth seem to smear the watch worse, and you have to keep flipping it over and rub forever to get it clean?

It's NOT a cleaning cloth. Please DO NOT use it for cleaning your watch. Like I said, it's merely for some kind of protection to the watch during shipment.

The lint-free cloth I've recommended is your best bet!!

My AD gave me this one when I bought the TT Blue. Very good for polishing the watch.

I just took mine off yesterday and it left some green on the case. I just took a drop of rubbing alcohol on a piece of toilet tissue and it came right off. It seemed to work fine and now I can see the movement, so I've got that going for me!

I use rubbing alcohol, the residue comes off easily.

Well, what actually happened was I got most of it off with my thumb, but is was still a little sticky. So I just wore it the rest of the day anyway, and when I got home it was fine. Grabbed a fresh, clean microfber cloth out of the bin for my car, and polished it up beautifully!

Last year in the newspaper in ISTANBUL/TURKEY I read that a lady at far east bought an authentic Rolex watch from the AD and they did not tell that she can take the hologram out and she weared the Rolex with the hologram and after a time she had a dissease of alergic at her arm cause of hologram and then after this event, Rolex approved that authencity and warranty will not depend on the hologram. When I will buy my dream Rolex I will take the hologram out first day and I will keep in the Rolex box. Thanks for sharing.
