Well Omega has always left me stone cold, so I'll go for the PAM in this case...

Cheers

I love Panerai, but I think I would go with the PO (especially of it is the liquidmetal one). The PO is just a beautiful all occasions watch that you can strap to your wrist and never take off for the rest of your life. Of course, if you have something similar already then perhaps getting the PAM would make sense for your collection.

My theory is on the omega forum, they'll say omega....on the panerai forum, they'll say panerai. Since I'm on the panerai forum......................omega?!?!, wait....Panerai

who cares what I want. between the two, I pick the 24. It'll wear much bigger than the 42mm PO. Also, there is a considerable price difference.

You need to just go with your heart on this one.

Bert,..that's a toughie.

My head says PO, but my heart says 24.

As a pure diving watch, to me, the PO might be the better choice.....why?

The bezel on the PO I find easier to read in all conditions. I think to a diver that's an important feature.

Secondly, and along those lines, I think a full 60 minute dial might be a more precise timming feature that one that has only 5 minute markers (boy, I know..Pam DNA and all).

Having said that, the Pam has such a distinctive look and I see FAR fewer Pams in general and 24s specificially than Omegas and POs.

From my own experience my 24 is so stupidly accurate it's scary and is one watch that has been noticed when I wear it. (Most don't even pay attention to any Rolex I have on).

I have had a couple POs-42MM--and as luck would have it it's the only watch I've had stop on me for no reason. Two months at Omega and no explanation what was done I got it back.

That is CERTAINLY not to indict Omega or the PO, it's simply my experience which is something we all draw on.

I do think the liquid metal version is stunning, but at the end of the day performance is what counts.

Good luck.

Check out the PAM 243 as well. It's a killer piece with everything you're looking for. The crystal on it is uber delicious with its thickness...

that's a tough one, and it depends on your preference.

the 42mm PO should be of a smaller size, and if you prefer smaller watch, then 42mm PO should be the way to go. Having said that, the PAM024 has a small crystal/dial size the Luminor cased PAM (i.e. 111 and such), and thus gives you the visual of a "smaller watch" (at least to me).

and both watches are very well built. PAM does have the unquie crown protector, which is a very nice. And both watches have great lume.

and the new strap change system is such a joy to use. now it literally takes you seconds to change straps and no more screw driver to scratch up the side of the case. and the strap option for PAM is endless and that's part of the fun of owning a PAM. :-)

i will lead more towards to PAM 024 for a more unquie watch and more fun to wear.

Maybe get both - kind of like what I did. : - )

They are a great compliment to each other. The PO is my regular go to watch and my PAM Zero is my weekend toy watch. The PAM does get far more attention than the PO. They each have their own attributes and I guess it will depend on what matters more to you.

Price adv on the PO.
PO more formal and the SS bracelet has its pros.
PAM however has the strap flexibility and looks better IMHO with a croc strap!
Resale maybe in favour of the PAM.

The fun is in the journey of selection.

PAM024 would be my choice if I can only have one.

(even though I love the PO too)

243 or 305 are the divers to get by panerai IMO. I would lean towards panerai, I own omega and panerai FYI.

ok here's what i've come up with so far. i am not in a hurry since i dont want to make a wrong choice.

PO
600m
antireflective
better for all around use
hard to change from rubber to bracelet
easy to see orange
graduated minutes
good lume
overall more tuned in to diving
finally price winner

Pam submersibles
titanium is ok but i dont think it is not as durable as steel
i like steel but probably dont like the polished surfaces in water
can only be used as casual and water
good lume
the subdial seems to distract
small bezel markers seems difficult to read but large circumference may make up for it
non graduated minutes
large easy to read dial and hands
price more expensive but the love is there

as you can see i rable...rable...rable but still torn.
