About "EBAY"
I got some free time in the afternoon so was surfing TRF and notice all this negative feedback in regards to buying ROLEX from eBay. My question is, what about real (brick and mortar) legitimate so called "grey" market that offer authentic ROLEX at eBay for 15-20% less. And if you are from a different state you don't have to pay tax VS. The "regular" Joe who "inherited" his rolex from his dead uncle!

these grey dealers you speak of, at the end of the day, do not have competitive prices compared to our most trusted sellers here in TRF. I believe Oscar is able to secure ANY Rolex you would want at a competitive price. I texted him last night about a BNIB GV for my mint GV plus cash, and he is shipping me a BNIB GV tomorrow. You just have to keep a lookout for the for sale thread here, it's great I tell you.

I know the guys here are great but that does not mean that Ebay is a bad place. I have bought 3 watches from Ron at U-click and 1 from Jon at Saint Blanc they are both great fair guys, but I agree that the prices here are better.

I just don't trust the overwhelming majority of (Rolex) product I see there. Plain and simple. I seriously considered Bernardwatch, a well-known gray site when I was shopping for a vintage DJ. They have a good rep / and authenticity is not an issue. Their prices are quite "strong" however, and they are not willing to deal. I ended up buying new from DavidSW on TRF. Couldn't be happier. |

If you ignore eBay, you will be left out of the world's largest market. One just needs to their homework.

eBay is like going through a trade fair. You never know what you'll end up with.
With high-risk (frequently faked) items like watches, you really have to do your due diligence on eBay or TRF. I don't doubt there are good sellers on eBay, but I would prefer to deal with folks I trust. The TRF community has been helpful in weeding out the trustworthy from the scammers.

I like certain kinds of homework / WIS research, but wading through the muck & mire at eBay is not to my liking. I would rather come to TRF and do a surgical strike and buy what I want - with complete confidence - in a fraction of the time. Heck, some of the guys here will hunt things down for you as well. |

There are also some great deals here on TRF, as many of us that have sold watches here do not have overhead like some of the ebay sellers or individuals in business selling watches. So, while ebay is a great venue for honest sellers and buyers, it is also a haven for con-artists, crooks and thieves - I mean disingenuous sellers. Be safe, buy safe, and remember - if the game is rigged, you can't lose if you don't play.

You are correct somewhat.....There are a handfull of reputable sellers as a whole on Ebay for high end watches,if you do your homework!! But for every reputable seller there are 100 theives selling knockoffs....Not to mention, the prices are rarely a steal.....Sure,at times a worthy deal will come through..IMO,you'll find a much better deal here with our finest sellers... I've done a lot of transactions on eBay including buying my 16610 very recently (paperwork/box/receipt included) and my girlfriend's Cartier Tank. Yes, I did my homework and things worked out well. The price was only a few hundred bucks cheaper than on here.
