Winders (yes, again)
So, I've been looking at the threads on winders, and I know that lots of you guys out there in TRF-land don't like winders. But anyway, my wife and I both own two automatic watches - She has an Oyster Perpetual and a Sub-Date and I have an Explorer II and a Tag Monico. I'm probably going to get a Sub (or a Sea-Dweller or a Deep Sea) at some point. We'd like to get winders. Probably a single winder for her and and a double (or triple) for me.
I'd like winders that are dependable, but don't cut into the Rolex budget very much. They will go in our closets, so looks are relatively unimportant. Modular design would be nice, but isn't crucial. What do yo think of these: 4.0 by Wolf Just under $200/watch, modular, good brand Boxy winder Under $100, modular, reliable?? RHD winders $350/2 watches, $440/3, not modular, better looking, reliable?? If you were going to buy a winder (or two), would any of these appeal? Other options? Thanks L |

Of the ones you've listed, I would choose the Wolf.
If I may add, I've bought a used Orbita double sparta for not much more on TZ. ($225 inclusive of shipping)

650 turns per day in either direction should keep the power reserve topped off.

For the watches you have, you are spending money that you really do not have to. It probably takes lest than a minute to set each of your watches, IMO, a nice watch box is a better investment.

I've had a Wolf for a year or so and it's pretty reliable, though it struggles a bit to hold in the larger watches...

The best winder without doubt is your own wrist.

Try an Orbita winder. I have the no thrills model no leather on outside of case. Put it in the safe which have a small enough hole for power cord going out and you are 100% safe with your watches..Orbita recommends 650 turns per day.

I have the 3 RHD brand! Would recommend them in a heartbeat. Great looking, well built, super quiet, and sold by a stand up guy. You can't go wrong. Orbitas are great too, but pricey!

Every watch gets its own Wolf 4.0, ordered one yesterday from Steve at Wolf Designs. Connectable, rechargeable, and easy to use. Have a three head Orbita, nice winder but haven't seen use since the 4.0'S came out. RS
P.S. the 2.7's are 1/2 off now at Wolfdesigns.com
