You did the right thing...DavidSW! I found that purchasing quite a few Rolex's at your AD may build you a relationship but it will cost you...Depending on what you buy you could buy 3-4 Rolex's from DavidSW and it is like getting the 4th or 5th one FREE compared to AD when you count how much you saved!!! To me that is the seller establishing a relationship with the buyer not the other way around!

Hi, Are you in USA or UK. In the UK, LHR airport has duty free prices if you leave on holiday a saveing in the VAT ( 17%). In the USA find a store out of state buy over the phone and get them to ship. Again saveing sales taxes over 7%

Good luck

For a $7000 watch I think I would just drive to an AD in Delaware and save tax.

The stores in/around Washington, DC unfortunately don't do much discounts on Rolex. The truth is that their rents on the stores are too high in this area so they need to make some money to cover costs, but also with the amount of tourists we get around here there are always some foreigners willing to pay top dollars for the popular models. Now if you go JLC, Breitling, Omega etc you can easily get pretty decent discounts.

Having said that, David is a stand-up guy. I have only bought one piece from him - it actually wasn't what I expected and "mint" according to my definition of the word - but to his credit he immediately took the piece back and offered my refund (minus shipping) promptly, so I'd definitely do business with him again.

Where do you go?
The AD's in the Washington D.C. area don't like to discount too much. You'll find better deals here on this board!!

Who would've thought that I'd be ordering my watch today? Much less, not from a brick and mortar store?

Thanks. I have definitely joined a community of enablers and I love it.

:)
You made the right choice AND you're well on your way to the next one.

Excellent choice, I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on a GMT IIc very soon myself. I was at an AD about 2 hours away from me while killing time before I was to testify at a trial and asked about a couple of watches. They gave me a price of $5800 for a GMT IIc which I believe to be very good for a brick and mortar AD. That seems to be about the price that I see them going for here on the board. I have two AD's within a half hour of my house that I am going to go to in the next couple of weeks and see if they will match that price or give an equal discount on another watch. If they will match the discount then I will buy there, otherwise I'll take a nice drive to the original AD and buy there or will wait until I have more business to conduct there. I may have to reach out to DAVIDSW too when I'm ready and see what he can do. He seems very highly regarded and as long as I can get a full warranty with the card filled out in my name then I'd have no hesitation buying that way.
