Dressy alternative to my Sub?
I'm thinking about getting a dress watch for those occasions where the Sub just isn't appropriate (OK - I know many will say it ALWAYS is - but you know what I mean!). Something simple yet elegant (can I use "elegant" for a man's watch?). Along the lines of an Air King. But here's the kicker - I want to spend about a quarter of what that would cost. Oyster style bracelet, stainless, black dial - a real basic dress watch. I will likely replace it in a few years with a Rolex to fit the bill, but don't want to make that investment right now. I have a couple ideas, but thought I'd throw this out for the piranha to feed on.
Thanks! |

Personally, I would look at the Revue Thommen Le Club in that price category. Good luck.

The Seiko Spirit Diashocks are very nice. I love the dial and hands. Very elegant IMHO.
Solid 6R15 movement (23 jewel), 38mm, 10bar water resistance, and about $300. Handwindable and hackable which is also nice. Looks good on Seiko's super oyster.

Well the Zeno Explorer with oyster style bracelet is a fine watch for the money around £140 with the ETA 2824 movement. They used to do one with stick markers too,but not sure if they still do.

You can get a preloved Omega AquaTerra for a really good price.
That would be my choice. OR.... my Hamilton Jazzmaster is an outstanding value at around 300 dollars and it looks and feels like ten times more.

Dress watch? I don't get it....maybe that's why folks stare at me funny when I drive my pickup truck to a fancy restaurant

But your date with the jubilee band is a dressy watch, don't you think?
