Interesting bubbleback
Dealer comes in our store wanting to sell some watches. Great guy. Long time customer. One watch was curious. A bubble back. When I see beat up cases with crisp serial numbers I always assume fake. So I told him it was probably fake and opened it up for him. Surprised to find an old rolex movement in it! And the old ld dial needed redone. Weird.
Maybe it is real he said. Took it apart further and voila! I have seen these before but everytime I see them I am amazed at the amount of work the fakers go to, to make a watch only worth a grand or so to begin with. A watch, beautifully hidden inside a watch! Sheesh. Jeff Hess |

Hi Jeff , interesting to say the least , cannot say I had seen them before . As you say pretty ingenious only to obtain a low value fake . I guess it is a bit like counterfeiting money , the high value notes get scrutinized more where as $5 and $10 dollar notes will pass easier . It is just a matter of getting volume out .

just try and remember the screw that holds down the winding (rotor) weight
it fits flush w/ a hole on each side of the screw head slot and also the winding unit. is a seperate unit that mounts to the plate there will be a line/tight gap. |
