Have you got home contents insurance that would cover accidental damage away from the home?

Take the watch to a jewellers that are laser weld specialists. They will remove the grit and laser weld some 904L into the deep scratches then polish/brush it back up. Everyday scratches and dents gives character but really deep gouges don't add anything.

If you just have the bracelet polished (without laser welding) they will have to remove quite a lot of metal to reduce the appearance of any really deep gouges.

It's just a watch and replaceable but you can't buy good health - so be thankful it could have been much worse.

Thanks for all the kind words, guys! As the thread title indicates, the watch got the worst of it, although a second or two of difference and I could have been in much worse shape.

I'll have it polished I believe, and I'll follow up with before/after pics :)

Good thing is that you're OK. Watches can be repaired/replaced. Frankly, I'd give it a light polish and keep wearing it. It's a battle scar and something that gives character to the piece.

As far as the watch... I'd probably get it cleaned.. I dont think I'd want the 'reminder' of what happened...!
