Oyster Clasp Question - Should the upper release section have a spring in it?

Hey guys - just a question that has kinda been bothering me but I've been nervous to find out if something is actually wrong lol

For some reason I thought that on the Oyster clasp - the part that you pull on and moves to open clasp had a spring like mechanism to it so it would snap back into place when released.

I'm referring to the top half just above the crown if I'm not making sense.

When I open my clasp the piece moves back and forth freely - I thought it was supposed to rest in place flush with the rest of the clasp but when I pull mine back (when the clasp is open) it just rests back - nothing snaps it back forward.

Is my clasp correct?

I think it is but I've been scared to know other wise.
