What do you think about the MarcelloC Nettuno?

Who know this watch from the german manufacturer? A lot of people say it is a cheap Rolex-Copy but I think it is a tiemepiece with an independ design. Leant by Rolex design, of course. The right as bridge to the next high quality swiss watch. :-) Price is with round about 500 Euro acceptable. This is my opinion.

Is it a sacrilege for you to buy a watch with rolex design and another name?

My fav.: (little bit more independend)

Not at all, a lot of people in this world will never be able to justify the expense of a Rolex, the argument then is why not get a fake at a fraction of the cost? If it was me I wouldnt because "I would know" and that would make a difference, a fake would have a dubious movement, at least with the Marcello you are getting what you pay for, a good looking watch that will not let you down. Is it trying to be a Rolex? No it is trying to be what it is, a watch made to a price, nothing more, nothing less. If you want one, then enjoy.

I can't agree with the "independent design" theory.

It's a clear cut Sub a like.

Well, I like this one:

As you state, a little more independant of Rolex design due to the sword hands. The red writing is cool, too!

I guess it uses an ETA 2824-2 movt.?

I have one in my collection, and I dont think it's a fake or cheap copy of a Rolex. They
are very well made. I have the Trident GMT and this is a super watch built with quality.
I would encourage anyone to check them out, they are made extremly well.

In this case it is a selita movement. But same quality. Selita is a concer daughter of ETA.

Be sure this watch is the next after the AirKing und before the Reverso.

So I guess ANY watch maker will be able to do service on that movement, like with ETA's??

This is true. Every normal horological should know the movement and the technic.

A lot of people in german boards praise the service of Mr. Kainz (He is the founder and owner of MarcelloC)

Another top service is that you can configure your own watch and he consider special wishes of the customers. I will try it after my AirKing.

The Nettuno will be my Daily Rocker!

I have read many excellent comments from happy customers who purchased the Marcello C, although I have not owned one myself. The lume performance is nothing special, but this may not be important to you.

Personally, I would look into that movement a bit more. I am not sure if this is a new movement maker for Marcello or not. If I was looking to buy a cheaper watch similar in some ways to the Submariner, I would favor a watch with an ETA movement. Grovana, Steinhart, and Roberts are much less expensive than the Submariner and I believe they use ETA movements. In fact, I believe the manufacturer of all 3 brands is actually Grovana. I have a Revue Thommen (made by Grovana) and it has served me well with no problems for 5-6 years now. The last time I checked, Grovana used ETA movements but Swatches' policies are in the midst of changing on this, so I recommend you check first to see if this is still true.

Another "value" brand to look at would be Croton. I have an automatic watch from about 5 years ago which is similar to the Submariner and I believe the cost at that time was less than $200.00 (U.S.). Although the model I have has an ETA movement, Croton has switched to using Japanese movements now. The Croton I have has performed fine for over 5 years and it's ETA movement has been completely reliable.

Other value brands to shop would be Seiko divers (like the Orange Monster, which has Seiko's reliable automatic movement), Titoni Cosmo King, Oris TT1, Fortis, and of course Citizen.

Best of luck.

Marcello C. is a brilliant watch. I use, next to my Rolex, Breitling and Omega one Nettuno 3. It works with sw 200. 10 Days, 6 Sec. more!!!! I test ist by wearing Day and Night.
A Top Watch for every Day.
