I purchased a 1990 Two-tone ladies datejust for my wife. She loves the watch but has trouble seeing the gold hands against the gold background.The Jewlery store offered to put an aftermaket MOP dial for 500 but I decided that I would not like non-Rolex parts in her watch, Any suggestions?

My wife had the same problem and we got a Rolex "silver" dial and she's completely happy with it!

Trade it for a midsize. My wife loves hers and you can actually read it. Good luck.

Good luck. Frustrating to have such a beautiful watch and not be able to fully "use" it.

My wife has had the same problem; she started out with a mid '90's TT with a Champagne Tapestry and eventually (as we aged gracefully) couldn't tell the time. We traded it for a 2007 TT with a Champagne MOP Roman Decorated Dial and it was a little better. Now we are looking for either a silver, white or white MOP dial with more contrast to solve the problem! RSC should be able to change the dial for you.

I would suggest replacing the dial, or the hands (to a more contrasting color) if possible.

I have the same issue with mine. I have to angle it in the light.

I knew that before I bought it, but I really like the champagne dial/sticks.

If it's a big problem, get another Rolex dial installed and keep the original.

My wife never had that problem but moving up to a mid-size makes it that much more readable and better looking.

Yea, I'm with you on aftermarket. Not for me either. This is common on DJ's IMO. Some are just plain hard to see at a glance. Go with a different dial color and stay with genuine parts.

Replace the dial at rsc.. Pick up a nice contrasty one..

Buy a diff original dial and have it installed. I had to do it to my mothers datejust for that same reason.

there are 3 main ways to enhance the intelligibility of a signal: Slowing the bit rate, (take longer to read the dial), redundancy, (look at the dial twice or three times), and improving the signal-to-noise ratio, (increase contrast). We presume your wife has found that the first two approaches are not effective or desirable, so the only method left is to change either the dial or the hands, (Rolex Original), to improve the legibility of the dial.

As sugested, moving to a mid-size would help alot and would eliminate the need to alter an original watch.

I like the middie's proportions more that the ladies', FWIW.
