Bit the bullit - bought an LV
On holiday Friday I trawled around just about every watch shop in Singapore. I couldn't find a brand new one in an authorised dealer and after looking at a few used came up with a what looks unworn LV with a mid December 2006 dealer stamp on the paperwork so only a couple of months old. Price was right and even better if I can get the tax back. I also bought a decent camera so once I figure out how to work it I will post a few pics of our recent purchases.
Now I just need to find something for M maybe she will settle for an Omega Bond and Big M on Tour |

Congrats, Bond. Isn't it amazing how the wallet just seems to fly open when you're travelling.

Yep but that in it's self hasn't been straight forward here, I only use a debit card and don't have a credit card. If I have the cash I buy and if not I don't. The LV was no problem, card swiped and off I went but the Omega and Tag shops wouldn't take it leaving M to go to an ATM machine every day until I had enough to go back and pay cash to collect them. Not came accoss that on my travels before. |

I like debits too, but use the credit cards when traveling for the insurance aspect. My American Express or my Visa will insure purchases.

Sounds like you are having a great time in Singapore.
A couple of weeks ago I was in Singapore for only 3 hours and got a fantastic new pda/cell phone Dopod P800W. Anyway, I know you will be jumping for joy over your Green Sub. I dare say you are enjoying your holiday. |

Thanks All,
Most of you won't like to hear this but the LV will be more of an everyday watch for me. I previously had a GMT and traded up to a Sub Date, only sold due the usual ex wife problems, and they were bullit proof. I wore them every day rain, hail or shine and now I have cleared my feet of the ex it was time to get another daily driver and the only choice was a steel Rolex, the LV is just a bit different from what you see back in the UK as I suspect a lot of owners won't wear them as every day watches. I have several others that you might say are "fashion" watches which I rotate depending on what I wear and where I am going in the evening. Although the Tag and the Planet Ocean are sports watches, they were just bought on a whim due to the good prices here. There has been the suggestion from Big M after walking around looking at watches for the best part of six weeks that I buy a nice 18k day date and sell some of the others when I get home so you never know, watch this space as they say. |
