Pressure test SUB.
Hi all, I was thinking it would be a good idea to pressure test
my sub before the summer/swimming season. To my surprise two of the ADs in my town told me that it would take 5-8 weeks after accepting the estimate for the job. The third AD who has an inhouse resource told me it would take 3 days and cost 80 Euros. I find this quite hard to accept. I remember reading about somone getting this done while waiting..a 20min job.. Any thougths?

5 weeks for a pressure test?! Better insure that hip joint. Someone's not just trying pull your leg - he's trying to rip it right off.

I posted this last week here is how a sub is pressure tested.
Sure doesn't look like it would take 5-8 weeks. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=chfgUuOz6_Y |

You don't need an AD to pressure test.
Any local watch repair shop should have test equipment. Some are depth limited. The local guy I use charges $20 and it takes about 20 minutes. He's limited to 100m due to his equipment. Some dive shops can test as well and typically can handle deeper ratings. They test gauges, etc. Not a bad idea once a year if you dive. Cheap insurance.

It is only 2 years...bougth new from AD.
I don't think I will do the pressure test at all, someone told me that it would be good to do every year, but given the circumstances I don't think it is worth it..

I wouldn't bother having it done if it's only 2 years old. I think Rolex standards will exceed that time for waterproofing seals. |
