Going to see a couple of ceramic Subs tomorrow
Hi,
I spoke to my AD this morning about the availability of the Rolex Sub C. He told me that he had both the black and a green in the shop for me to have a look at. Now what should I be expecting if I go to see them tomorrow, will I be over or underwelmed by the watches. As a reference, I already have a DSSD as a modern diver and an old style Sub LV amongst others and so I know the benefits of both old and new. I don't think a totally green watch is for me but I am still very interested to see it in real life. As a comparison I am going to take a 16610 with me that we have put away for my son's 18th birthday next year so that I can really compare old and new All thoughts welcomed!! Peter |

dont expect to be blown away with the black C sub since you already have the DSSD..
Green version might be a different story. |

Green one is quite nice--I like it 3rd to the WG Blue and YG Blue. I know that most that have looked at it walked out with it!! Best of luck!

I think you'll appreciate what Rolex has done with the Sub-C LN.
Good Luck! Keep up posted. |

I think you will find the Sub LV c pretty pleasing in view that you already have an old sub

Well I have braved the rain and cancelled trains to get to see the watches.
The AD had a 16610 sub on and I was able to compare very well. At this stage I was underwelmed by the new Sub C LN. To me it looked a bit like a poor relation of the DSSD which sits at the head of my collection. Yes it was sharp but not different enough to stand out. Yes the clasp was good but again lacks the DSSD glidelock. However, the Sub C LV looked amazing and as everyone says you have to see it in real life to appreciate it fully. The shimmer on the dial is like my TT Blue Sub. It even goes black if you tilt it right down as if you are looking down at the dial from above the top lug. This is what they should have done to the new TT Blue ceramic as the new dial looks too flat and plastic like to me. No purchase today but the green certainly stands out from the pack. Peter |

Agreed. I'm seriously considering flipping my 116710 GMTc for the 116610LV & maybe swopping the bezels with my LN once the prices settle.....

The only problem -- besides the cost issue -- with my dream is that my wife says she'd divorce me if I get an all-green watch Maybe she'd come around if I could present her the "toned-down" Sub-C LV with black bezel in live or at least on a real photo, but no chance to see such a watch anywhere. Unless someone else already done the mod. So I'm hoping you'd do that, or I might just need to take the highly risky maneuver of first buying a Sub-C LV, then hiding it from the Mrs until the ordered black ceramic bezel arrives and gets swapped. And since she can smell "conspiracy" on me from a mile away, it's too risky to ever dare trying it |

I'm with you too...the green sub is my next Rolex. She's a beauty! Rolex green sure is a hot commodity wherever it shows up.

swing for the fences Old Sports and go green
you have a DSSD (black watch ie neutral) in your collection to reach back for more and support the LV-C

The LV-C would look great in the rotation with the DSSD.

it has it variations, but overall i think it shows more black dial than green dial i would say it shows 70/30 black dial to green.
