Annoying click spring on my GMT Master

I have been doing a fair amount of insert swapping on my lovely 16700 GMT Master. I had the Pepsi on there for a few months and then the black and now the Coke. The bi-directional click spring is tricky. I have this issue where the spring sticks out almost too far and I think it is not properly engaging with the bezel surround. I keep taking the bezel off to look at it and push it closer to the dial, but it is a stubborn mofo!

I can lock down the bezel just fine and it rotates great in either direction. However, there is a point where the bezel actually seems like it is nudged up just a bit and I can push it down at 12:00 and 6:00, sort of moving back and forth less than a millimeter on either side. This is the spring sitting proud and causing a bit of resistance where it should not be doing this. I'm not at risk of losing anything, but it is a minor annoyance. I took it apart and worked with the spring several times last night, but it is so small and rigid that I can't really bend it that fraction of a mm that I need.

Has anyone else encountered this? Any suggestions? Thanks.

I always replace the bezel slightly angled, pushing the click-spring in situ before the final shove, hard to explain adequately so I suppose I'm not helping :(

Yep, I know the move and keep trying. Somehow that pesky spring breaks loose and is not quite sitting where it needs to be.

Take it out permanently and enjoy your watch more. Unless you have a need for a unidirectional bezel, I'd consider removal.

That's a provocative suggestion!

I had been thinking about that last night and I really don't have a driving need for the spring, other than the fact that I enjoy the sound and feel. If this continues to bug me, I may just launch it. Speaking of launching it, I did that several times last night while I was messing around. Somehow I always find it.

My GMT II spring broke once and I had to wait for a replacement from my watchmaker. He just installed my bezel without the spring and I loved it. All my Tudors are that way and I prefer it. Never have to worry about lining up the pip @ 12.

Lots of replacement click springs on the bay: you might get one and try it out.
