Clear plastic bezel protectors/guards for GMTs etc.

Hi folks

Anyone who knows in what year the clear plastic bezel protector/guard that comes with certain Rolexes was introduced? Especially for the GMT-MASTER / GMT-MASTER II.

Also - I suppose there might be some aftermarket or fake protectors out there. Are there any Rolex markings on the genuine ones?

Cheers

The plastic protectors are just meant to protect the watch in transit from factory to AD many Ads just throw them away after sale. After that well they are just bits of plastic and of no real use if you wear the watch. And why would anyone what to make what you call aftermarket or fake protectors its just packaging plastic tat.

Thanks Padi!
Well it seems they sell for $5 and north of that on the web so I guess that could be one reason for aftermarket/fake ones, assuming cost of producing them is considerably lower.

Well they're not meant for that I think. Not sure your question was serious though.

I know people who will put seatcovers on their exquisite leather auto upholstery... I think it is concern about resale. Imho, just enjoy what you enjoy. There are so many other things in life to worry about...imho.

You might want to leave your watch in its box...surrounded by foam. 100% protection agains the elements...and your wrist!

I am sorry...

Well, I did ask the AD for extra covers when I bought mine. He put two extras in the bag for me.

My ad made a big deal about putting it in the box(I wore the watch out of the store). That's where it still is, tucked away in the back of the closet, likely never to be seen again unless I move!
I don't need to wear the protector though because I never leave the house without my full body condom on
