Rolex story, sound believable?
I bought a used Rolex for my wife at Tourneau.
It looked brand new and had some stickers on it too. No papers however. (Rolex Oyster 31mm Pink dial, ? model 177200). when I bought the watch, it came with a fluted bezel. However this watch comes with the smooth bezel only "officially". I went to two ADs who told me they would not be able to switch the smooth bezel to the fluted bezel on orders of Rolex (my mother had wanted the exact same watch). This watch was then taken to another jeweller who reported that she called Rolex and gave the serial number and confirmed with Rolex that this watch was a factory original special order which came with the fluted bezel. My question is does that story sound true? Is the jeweller who told me that story pulling my leg? Can you actually call Rolex with a serial number and get confirmation of what a watch should have (i.e. to prove its not a frankenwatch). If it is not true, I would want to take the watch to be opened up to ensure it is a Rolex (my wife, who would not trade/sell the watch just wants it to be an authentic Rolex with Rolex Movement and does not really care if the bezel is aftermarket). I appreciate your time and help. |

Why don't you call Rolex USA yourself and confirm?
I think you can and they will give you either the same information or see what they have to say. |

I didn't realize I could just call them up.
Thanks for the advice and I will let you post what happens when I do. |
